I wouldn't have a problem with it. When children enter adolescence, they want to be independent. Parents of kids that age have to be careful to choose their battles to avoid fighting all of the time. I would allow the piercings and save the fighting for clothing or curfew issues. Focus on the really important stuff. I consider piercings pretty innocuous, compared to girls wanting to show off too much skin or stay out too late.

Being an Asian, I never had a choice in the matter of earrings...when I was 4, my mom made me get an earring in each ear...I didn't even get to choose whether I wanted them or not! But, if she chose them and already has them, let her keep them. There's no point in taking them out. It would just leave a scar. If her school has a problem w/ it or it distracts her classmates, then tell her to take them out during school hours and put them back in. There is nothing wrong w/ earrings. Anything else, however, is just too creepy for most ppl at this time. As long as her school has no problem w/ it and she doesnt have to go to some strict formal affair, it's fine. Just make sure she takes care of her ears...you dont want them to get infected.

The child's parents are the ultimate ones who should decide this.

If I were her mother, this would not be acceptable to me. She is too young to be making decisions about body modification. She is also too young to be consistent with the careful hygiene necessary to avoid infections in pierced areas.

If she were twelve years old and very responsible, I might let her get her ears pierced in the regular way, one hole in each earlobe.

I guess I am also against a culture that encourages people to be sexualized and seek social approval by doing unnatural things to their bodies at such a young age. I find it inappropriate and unhealthy, mentally and physically.

because you are asking, you probably (as a parent) dont feel comfortable with an 11y/o
having so many piercing's
my 12y/o daughter and 11y/o neice said to let her have one and wait a few years for the others. the holes can be made but not undone
she might reconsider after the first lot
do not let her put pressure on you stand your ground there is a whole lot of growing up for her to do first

It would not be all right for my child to do this (I don't have one though). It is accourding to the family though. Some parents are more submissive to this stuff others are simply not there. I say look beyond the issue of the peircings and look at the child.

I think that's acceptable because I love piercings! I have seven myself. ( and I want more!) Most of my friends had four piercings around your age. (11-12) It doesn't really matter how many piercings you have. They're just another accessory.

no
I say this because I got my ears pierced when I was 6, and when I was 12 I really wanted a second one, but my mom said no. Now, I don't even wear one, I regret getting them in the first place, it was unnecessary pain.

I think that an 11 year old is too young to have that many.
