In a small way, he is doing what journalists should be doing. It's only public in the sense that the people need information.
Unfortunately, his service isn't always reliable, and is more of a spectacle. I like some of his work, but the biggest problem, like Woody Allen's movies, is that HE's IN THEM. Nobody wants to see those guys in real life. That's what actors are for: so we don't have to look at writers and producers.
