If I receive a gift, I would rather it be from the heart. My family and I spent a lot on Christmas until last year. We all decided for one year we would not even exchange gifts or buy any Christmas gifts at all. We had Christmas at the home of my daughter and everyone brought a dish and we invited some people that we knew had no place to go for Christmas. It turned out to be the best Christmas we ever had. There was no pressure to find the perfect thing for each person and no last minute wrapping or buying on Christmas Eve. We plan to do this again every year.
There was not one person that was disappointed they did not receive a gift. There are no small children in our family. That might make a difference. I hope you have a great one no matter what you do.

Admitedly, I enjoy the store-bought stuff (especially in the last couple years with my new home). There are some great things out there that I can not only use, but keep and appreciate.

However, I love my hand-made afghan from my mom, my wood knickknacks from my grandfather, etc. Those are the things I would grab if the house caught on fire.

It's a mix... but if I didn't get anything homemade, I'd be more upset than not getting the big store-bought expensive gift.

Definitely from the heart. Expensive gifts scare me. :)

We don't do expensive presents in my family. From the heart is nice sometimes, but frankly if someone paints me a picture that looks like nothng or embroiders curtains with unicorns on them, then frankly my thoughts turn to how to store them somewhere I won't have to look at them.

Thoughtful presents are good - I am quite happy with books and more books and they don't have to be expensive.

ones from the heart -- it is so much more satisfying to recieve a gift that was selected specifically for you...... expense does not have to play a role -- just knowing that the gift giver thought about you and what you like and are like when choosing the gift makes a gift special......

I prefer ones from the heart. I am more of a giver than a receiver, so whatever I get, I am truly grateful for.

Christmas is about Jesus- What He gave to us could never be purchased, no matter the price.

What we give each other at Christmas is in token to His ultimate gift. It's ALL about the heart!!

I really like gifts that come from the heart!!! It has more meaning than a gift that they bought from a store!!!! Plus, its something that you can cherish throughout your life and can always remember that person.
