You have to have your high school transcripts and either a diploma or a G.E.D.

That depends upon the school. Most schools require a G. E. D. or high school diploma to enroll. There are exceptions. Some schools will allow you to take an entrance exam instead of presenting the diploma. You show them that you can potentially succeed in classes. One took tests and did so well that he was allowed to take C.L.E.P. tests. He wound up only taking one and a half years of college to graduate since he passed the other tests. In other words he tested out of the classes and did not have to take them. Be warned, the tests are expensive. They are not as expensive as the classes, but they are not free either. Lastly, some schools do not offer this option or place limits on the option. Perhaps you will only be allowed to test out of half instead of three fourths.

I am in a Community College, and I only had to get my transcripts. It may depend on the college policies though. You should ask an academic advisor or admissions staff if you need it for the college you are interested in.

It depends on the state you live in. In California, even high school students can co-enroll in community college. If you are not in high school, then they will ask you to take self-directed courses to achieve your GED while you are allowed limited other college courses.
