It is in our most challenging times that we build the most character... if we allow ourselves. The purpose of challenges & issues is to learn life's lessons and grow spiritually. In order to forget, you first have to forgive. In order to forgive, you have to learn. So in all things that happen, ask yourself... what can I learn from this? Why is this person in my life? Why did this happen to me at this time in my life? If you feel it was something you did wrong, then learn from it and forgive yourself for it. Then you can let it go. The more negativity you remove from your mind the more positive becomes.
Read the book, "The Precious Present". It is a life changing book that can be read in 10 minutes. Once you read it, give it to someone as a gift, to pass on. Once you learn to live in the present moment, where you are much safer and more alive... you will not concentrate on things of the past.

"Bad" memories generally involved some type of danger in the remote past. Remembering a negative event made you more likely to avoid whatever happened, and therefore kept you safe. Unfortunately, the reverse isn't true as often, so our ancestors were not "punished" for forgeting good times, but were "punished" if they forgot the bad. For example, if I forgot that a snake tried to bite me, I would not be as cautious the next time I saw a snake.
So why bad memories of social events that involve no real danger? Our brains are hardwired for a certain emotional response, and whether it's a snake or a breakup with your girl, the principles are the same.

Good memories are resolved, bad memories are not. People tend to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what went wrong to create the bad memory. Sometimes there is no answer. Sometimes the answer is beyond finding (you can't always know some else's motives). Sometimes it's one of those unavoidable things (as in a bad accident). The mind continues to try to make sense of the senseless. Therefore the bad memory is rehashed, it stays fresh in the memory, and is difficult to forget.

usually bad memories have so many more emotions involved than good memories. Good memories usually only bring about happiness, and more times than not you have many more good memories that seem to overlap. A bad memory, on the other hand, may involve sadness, anger, loss, hoplessness, etc. etc. And usually it was a one time event that appears to be so tragic and overwhelming that it stays with you longer. Its even worse when the event was unexpected (like the death of a loved one)

because people are often pessimistic. They feel sad often (at least more than good times!!!). Normally people who think that they are optimistic are actually pessimistic. People often only see what they don't have, and not what they do have!!!Sometimes bad memories make people lose the real them. Most people can't focus on happiness!!!
BE MORE OPTIMISTIC!!!

why is it so easy to make war then peace...
why is it so easy to brk a relation then to maintain them...
why is it easy to giv birth then to raise...
why is it easy to hate then to love...
why is it always people use telescope rather then a mirror to find faults....
why is it easy to ask Q then to answer right....
All want a easy life..& will fight to abstain frm aiything that hurts..& best way is to stick to bad side always..it comes easy...
goodness cost ...only a strong mind filters things that are best though not easy...
forgiving is difficult for me & many ...punishing is so v.easy..to oneself & others...
mend one's ways is way too tiring
so to boil down to ur Q..is the fact that good things r meant to be..& bad is that u never expected..& how u hate it..
hating so easy..learning frm it in right spirit way too difficult...
well then all r not so...we live & learn !
