He had been hurt most of last year and Ken Williams, the White Sox GM figured he was done. He had been with the White Sox for 16 years. The Athletics signed him for the league minimum with incentives based on number of at bats, number of hits, number of RBIs, number of home runs. He seems to have hit every one of his incentive targets. He probably will want a more conventional contract from the Athletics next year. They will have to give it to him.

They never traded him they let him go because the White Sox GM doesn't like Frank Thomas.

The GM of the White Sox must feel Stupid for getting rid of Frank Thomas!

They didn't. His contract was up and he signed with Oakland as a free agent.
