I love psychology, and I have a B.A. in psychology and a M.A. in school psychology. But I really want to research/help people with major problems (serial killers, psychotics, etc.). Where should I start? Do I need a M.A. in forensic psy.?

Watch what you wish for...it is a dangerous field.
No, you do not make alot of money and no you do not nec. have to have an advanced degree. Mine is a BA in Psych. and I was...well....moved into forensics due to my experience in crisis/suicide intervention and investigation.

You have to get up and personal with these people....stand toe to toe and even walk in thier thoughts. Ask yourself just how far you are willing to go...are you willing to risk your safety, your family's safety, your own sanity?

I fully admit that for 13 years it was one hell of a rush...better than any drug...talking a gun out of someones hand or conning a suicide off a building or snagging a child abuser...these are all part of the world you want to venture into.

If you really want this then I suggest you start in suicide....it has all the components of the field you want to go into.

A few tips though:
Never show emotion
Never give an inch
Never trust anyone
Always sit with your back against the wall
Take self defense advice from street wise people...martial arts doesnt work well against psychotics(they don't play by "rules")
And if you survive long enough to finally realize that you have done enough to save the world.....consider yourself lucky and pass on your advice to the next.

Good luck to you.
