My friends at school just don't interest (if that's the right word) me like the friends out-of-school do. I'm a sophomore in high school and I tend to not laugh at the stuff the people I hang out laugh at. And I'm tired of all the lame drama that people my age seem to go through, sometimes it's just pathetic. My friends who don't attend my school are much older than me 5-10 years older than me and I like hanging out with them more than the people in my age group. Is this wrong? Are there any problems I should know about?

No, I get along better with people who are older than me too, also some that are 5 years older than me.

I wonder what you consider older ? I have friends who are about 15 years older and we get along ok. I also have friends that are 20 years younger and we seem to mesh pretty well. It has more to do with common interest when considering friendships. If you can't relate well with your own age, then by all means get older friends to hang out with. Good luck !

No, I think it's fine. I was never really close with anyone in school. They all seemed very stupid and immature. Most of my friends are the girls from work, they're 24-30 years old. I get along with those girls much better than any girls I went to school with.

NOT WRONG to have older friends. Looks like you're too matured for your age and enjoys the older company more. With their seniority (in years), hopefully you get to learn something from them. Do not forsake those in your age group, they are (and these years) are to be enjoyed.

No, as long as you keep your eyes open and make sure they are being true friends, I don't see anything wrong with it. Just don't forget you are still a teenager. But as long as you all have the same interest then age is nothing but a number.

no. i've always had older friends. but that is because i just didn't mesh well with them. they were immature to me...and i just wanted to be older. it's normal to want to be grown...but when you are grown...you tend to wish you were younger. don't let life pass you by with you wondering about what could have been. i'm pretty sure there is someone in your school who feel the same way you do. you pick and choose your friends. so please choose them wisely.
