Yes it would. i would like to address what life loom said. just because it wasn't far enough along to be shaped like a baby that doesn't mean she didn't miscarry. and you don't always go into labor some women just have stomach cramps.

It would still come up positive. Usually it will show positive if you are around 2-3 weeks pregnant. Any earlier than that, there is a good chance it wont show up on a pregnancy test.
I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and I took a home pregnancy test and found out I was pregnant when I was 2 weeks late.
So the answer to your question is yes, you would be able to see a positive sign on a home pregnancy test at 4-5 weeks along.
After you miscarry the pregnancy test will come up negative right away. The test wont detect a baby when there isn't one there.

A "miscarriage" a month after fertilization does is not really a miscarriage, my dear. A miscarriage is when you pass something that looks like a baby after what feels like labor. What you had was just a late, heavy period. Jeez!
