My favorite subject!

David Dombrowski.
He is President, CEO, AND GM of The Tigers.
He was the mastermind behind the 1997 Marlins WS team/

He's been our President since 2001.
He fired Randy Smith as GM in 2002, and took over those duties.

Since then he's pulled off some pretty neaty trades.
One of which was to get Carlos Guillen from Seattle.
Another was to trade Jeff Weaver in a 3 way trade with yankees and A's. We got Jeremy Bonderman in that trade.
Another trade was to get Placido Polanco for Urbina.
He signed Justin Veralnder (at the last minute).
He scouted, and got Zumaya.

He's has stocked our farm system to where it actually looks good for years to come.

He signed Ivan Rodriguez to a 4 year 40 millon dollar deal, when no one else would even look at Pudge.
He signed Mags (when he was "hurt") when no one would even look at him.

All those trades and signings have added up to what is going on this year.

As a extra added bonus he signed the manager with whom he won the 1997 World Series with...Jim Leyland.

In my opinion, Jim Leyland was the final piece of the puzzle.

I could go on and on about this topic.

If you want to know more just let me know.

Bless our Boys, Go Detroit!
We have a amazing owner in Mike Illitch,(owner of Little Ceasers Pizza & Red Wings too!) When he gets it in his mind that he wants a winning team he spares nothing to get own, he did it w/ the Wings just the same! Did ya know he played for the tigers in his youth, he has a emotional attachement & the money, now the coaching staff & players need to complete. If they don't do it this year count on a penant next year he wont give up just better!

While Leyland does deserve credit, the whole system works incredibly well right now. They have been patient with young pitching. Look at it this way: The Tigers are in the LCS. AAA Toledo MudHens won the International League Championship. One of their single A teams also won their league. Only the AA Erie SeaWolves struggled because all of the players who were any good last year are playing in the bigs now: Justin Verlander, Joel Zumaya, Curtis Granderson, Fernando Rodney...etc

When they hired Jimmy Leyland, the best Manager in baseball since I don't remember when. At Pittsburgh, Florida, look at his record, with mostly young and rookie players, and he always knows how to get his players to kick *** and win. Detroit will win the series against the Mets this year, most likely in 7.
