Because it is against international law to assassinate the sitting head of a sovereign nation.

The CIA has tried and failed many times to kill Kim Jong Il. Same with South Korean spies who have a network inside Pyongyang. And it goes both ways, there are many NK spies in South Korea living as ordinary citizens, waiting for the day when they get the word. The South Koreans have tried forever to off the crazy b*stard, but he's like a cockroach, even after a nuclear haulocaust, he'll still be alive.

they cant get into the country, south korea and north korea are still in a war. And then when they assasinated him they would put one of there people in power, like in afganistan or like when they put that guy in panama or bolivia or w.e country it was. **** doesnt work like that. and plus, the goverment in north korea would appoint another communist tyrant in kim Jung-il's place

Why do you think that would answer anything. Someone else would just take his place. Everyone knows that Communism requires outside assistance to survive. They are hardly a superthreat just because they set off a bomb. First they have to have a delivery system.

US supposedly is against assasinations. (Though they did them quite a bit during the vietnam era). S Korea is all heartborken they are seperated from their brothers and don't want to offend them in any way.
Japanese should place a yakuza hit on him. China just misplacing them would be great. I might actually respect them a tiny bit if they did that.
