If he watches tv; maybe there is a certain character he likes he could be. I think Sponge Bob would be a good one for a 5 year old. He is colorful and fun or go the traditional route and let him be a super hero like Superman or Spiderman.

i dont know about you, but for parents who dont have strict religious qualms to this- a little devil costume is always adorable on my little nephew... and the joke of course for the adults to share is that he is "a little devil".
