Something wrong to your basic of understanding... here is the solution..
6 (x+6)
--------- = 4x - 1
4
Expand it off and you will get
6(x+6) = 4(4x-1)
Now, multiply all and you will get
6x + 36 = 16x - 4
Move all the 'x' term in left hand side and the number in right, hence
6x-16x = -4-36
Simplify it and you will get
-10x = -40
Now, final step is to move the -10 to right hand side
x = (-40)/(-10)
and you will get
x = 4

(6(x + 6))/4 = 4x - 1
(3(x + 6))/2 = 4x - 1
but the way, using LCD is only involved when you have to values on the left side and one on the right, you have to multiply by 4 or in this case 2 to both sides, just because multipling is the opposite of dividing.
3(x + 6) = 8x - 2
3x + 18 = 8x - 2
-5x = -20
x = 4
ANS : x = 4

6(x+6)/4=4x-1multiply by 4
6(x+6)=16x-4 distribute on LHS
6x+36=16x-4 subtract 6x-4 from each side
16x-6x=36-(-4)
10x=40
x=4
check
6(4+6)/4=4*4-1
6*10/4=16-1
15=15
