Have you ever rented an RV? What did it cost per day (approx)? Was it hard to operate?

I don't do tents, but I have a child that would like to go camping.

What was your RV rental experience? Fun? Easy? Expensive?

Shop around, it can cost quite a bit depending on the size. Bigger ones can be up to $100/day.

Look for a smaller RV to start if you never drove anything that big before. Something about the size of a small moving van. You could also rent the tow behind if you have a truck.

You really have to be into the "outdoor" experience to enjoy one unless you're getting a luxury model.

Renting can be spendy, but if it makes your child happy, might be worth it, eh?

I would recommend renting a 22-24 foot class C motorhome .... they are the kind that look like a delivery truck. It will be easier to maneuver than a Class A (the big fancy ones).

A Class B (modified Van style) would be cheaper, but not as convenient or comfortable for you if you don't like camping.

If you have a friend or relative who has one, you might see about renting it from them.

Call around, or look online for rental companies ... there are some large RV rental companies, I see their RV's all the time ... but offhand I can't think of the name, grrr.

Also, if you camp in state parks, usually they are very nice and have hookups, showers, etc.

It would be cheaper to rent a trailer if you have a pickup or SUV that is capable ot towing one ... but it's a bit harder to do if you have never towed anything before.

I went to El Monte, the RV was great, their service is great ! but its not exactly cheep. Would be wise to check out there seasonal specials.

Gas is Cheaper to run then diesel.

They don't exactly handle like driving a car.. but they are easy to get used to.
It was fun for the whole famliy !
