Be responsible. I got pregnant almost 2 months after I graduated from high school. Now I am 29, and I am finally in college after 3 kids. I wish I would have not partied and just gone to college and worked hard in school to get where I wanna be. I will be there, but I could have been there by now. If you don't want to go to college immediately out of school, get a job, and if living with parents, pay some rent to them. Believe me, they would appreciate that.

Well, I'm a college grad myself. I'm 31 now and not making a killing but I have a cool job. I could have saved myself a lot of money if I knew what I wanted to do right away. Even now I'm stilling steering my career. So the easy answer is go to college. Which isn't a bad route, it's a lot of fun, but don't drink yourself out of college. My friends who went in the trades all make great money and own homes, but they can only do that for so long unless they own a company or get into management. So I'd say find yourself and find out what you want to do before making a commitment. My brother went into the military to do this. They paid for his school when he was done. I on the other hand worked at a factory for a while then decided to go to school. Good luck.

If you're not ready for college, look into volunteer opportunities. I spent a year providing child care for kids in a transitional housing project, receiving only a small allowance, food and housing at a home for retired Catholic sisters. I'm not Catholic so it was a huge change for me and I learned much more there than I did in college. The experience has influenced every major decision in my life since then and I still volunteer as much as I can but now I work primarily with elders instead of children.
