I play guitar, and want to form a band but what kind is the question. I like everything accept hip hop and Gospel, no offense to the lord. I have no idea what to do. Any advice.

get together with as many different types of musicians as you can find and learn to adapt to them all. try to find musicians better than yourself so that you will be inspired to keep improving.
most importantly, have fun and keep playing.

My advice is to write songs with your band. Whatever comes out, that's your style.

Who says you need to stick to one style look at the Beatles for example, their music contained, rock, pop, blues, psychedelic, country, ragtime and hard rock (helter skelter) Just stick to your influences. Good luck to you.

the only way that your music will truly sound amazing, is if you do whatever is in your heart and soul.... whatever style you choose will shine through ..

just sing the songs that u like most....whatever....genre u are playing more...then concentrate on that.....
