I want to start a massage therapy business in my home and would like to know if I need to be certified or can I just open one for the heck of it and would I need a permit to do so? Please help me

I was going to school for it, there isn't a degree for it there is a certificate, but I just wanted to know if I needed a certificate to do so.

First off I would speak with a local attorney to make sure you are covered legally from all aspects. You will probably need to buy a good insurance policy. I would also follow up with other local agencies to ensure everything is legal.

Here's a good article on whether to start a home based business.

i would think you need that certificate if you don't already have it, especially if something goes wrong, i don't know what, but you know people are sue crazy these days and you don't want to get caught with your pants down ( without being certified) that could really mess you up in future opportunites. I would check and make sure before hand you don't want an avoidable lawsuit on your hands... good luck

Check your Municipal By-Laws. Neighbours may not appreciate extra traffic your business might attract.
