Well, algebra is very easy and is the basis of a lots of new mathematical concepts that will be introduced to you pretty soon.
Try thinking in terms of "UNKNOWN QUANTITY", which is usually denoted by x, y or z.
Suppose you need to know the profit from a selling an icecream for say x dollers, when the cost is y dollers.
Then the profit is
selling price - cost price = (y-x) dollers
Here we do not know the absolute value of any of the prices neighter the profit, but still we have deviced a way when some of the unknowns are known we will find out the rest.
Algebra is all about this. Initially it seems tough but once you get a hang of it you will find it very interesting. Don't worry, just get on with it.

To understand algebra, you must understand prealgebra topics. Here is the greatest tip to pass algebra:
LEARN THE RULES FOR SIGNED NUMBERS LIKE THE BACK OF YOUR HAND. If you can do this, algebra will not be hard at all.
Why not buy algebra math instructional videos or dvds?
Why not hire a math tutor?

Practicing the formula of algebra is a must, start witht the scratch. Dont worry abt the long path to be followed. Get some help from this site

sry is long and tedious to explain
best i'll give u is an example-
x + 2= 5
here if u add 2 to x, you get 5 , right?
but u want to know what x is, not x + 2
ao, u subtract 2 from both sides to find x
2- x+ 2=5-2
the twos in the left side of the equation cancel out, and u get
x=3
