Federal receipts are at an all time high. All spending bills originate in the House of Representatives, so blame the citizens for demanding so many handouts first, the Representatives for pandering to them second, and Bush for signing the bills a distant third.
As for the dip in receipts between 2001 and 2004, FY 2001 was a Clinton budget, and it reflects the dot com bust that had already started. 9/11 then damaged an economy that was already shaky. Most of the Bush tax rate cuts didn't kick in until 2003.
The income in 2005 was almost equal to the spending in 2003. Look at the jump in spending, and you'll see my point.
Oh, and rever is completely wrong about the U.S. being out of debt. That's not even possible, due to the way the Social Security Act is written. All that money that's supposedly in the "trust fund" has been lent right back to the general fund since DAY ONE. the Gross Federal Deficit increased EVERY YEAR under Clinton. Only the amount held by the public went down a little.

Do you think we actually owe that money to someone?
We print the money. The world economy and value of the dollar and any unpaid deficits are ultimately decided upon by global leaders. This is what prevents any one government from just printing as much of their own money as they want. Instead they counterfeit each others.
As for voting democrat vs republican, don't be styupid enough to just follow a party, follow your ideals and more importantly the character of the person you vote for.
I didn't vote for Clinton because in his first Dem primary debates he personally insulted one of his fellow democrats at a debate. It spoke volumes about his character. The two other big things he did while in office that showed a lack of integrity (I;m sure there's more but these matter to me) is Monica Lewinsky and pardoning pedophile friends as partr of the 140 people he pardon his last day in office.
My experience has been that all my stupid partying friends are democratic and all my smart successful friends are republican. Which of them would you trust with your fate?
I don't like democrats because I like to spend the money I make. I don't like republicans because I like to spend the money I make on drugs and pornography. - (quote by either Richard Jenni or Kevin Pollack, I don't remember which)

If Clinton had really done his job we might not have had a 9/11 attack and we might not be suffering the consequences now. 9/11/01 cost us a lot of money. It is a wonder that we recovered so well so fast. Some were predicting that it would take a decade or more to recover.

I would mainly like to see more Democrats in Congress to control the outrageously high concentration of Republicans, and to clean up their messes. It about time for a change.

Yes I realize that and I also thought Clinton was a good president. What sexual behaviours he had was between him and Hillary and if she could not keep her man faithful what did we care. He was friendly out going and actually doing something good for the country. WAKE UP AMERICA

I think Clinton was so unpopular because he didn't start a war. The public loves a good war; it makes them feel important and so self-righteous.
