I think you refered the tribes of INDIA (ASIA) - accordingly I have answered.
The tribal belt of north-west India includes the states of Rajasthan, Ghujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The tribal people of this region have origins which precede the Vedic Aryan people of the north and the Dravidian people of the south. In fact, the origins of these people are thought to stem back to the Harappan civilisation of the Indus valley, the oldest traceable civilisation of the Indian sub-continent which flourished between 3500BC and 2500BC.
The tribes of north-west India were once strong matrilineal societies. The changing fates and fortunes of these people has caused a gradual evolution to a more patriarchal code of living. These days the tribal societies generally follow the rule of patriliny. There are still, however, many strong cases of organised matriarchy in existence today. It is the women who organise matter such as relationships and marriages, the inheritance of land, and the distribution of wealth.

recent dna evidence may cause a totally new restatement of all "acccepted" theories of prehistoric population dispersions in the north american continent!!the "new findings" show that the dna that conjoins the mongolian peoples and the coast indians such as the chumash may continue unbridled all of the way to chile as suspected but very few tested specimens of indian population east of the rockie mountain contain that specific genome at all!!there was only one individual case pinpointed in what seems to be a very well travel and isolated incidence in the interior of the mound-builder area of the midwest that exhibits this chumash /coastal strain of dna tied to much earlier dispersions from asia across the supposed land bridge!!these early settlers may have followed game like mammoth and woolly rhinoceros and eohippus across to this continent ;however even dating this crossing has been repeatedly pushed back in time incrementally for years somtimes at 10,000 year increments by archaeological finds of irrefutable longevity and crossdated by various scientific means to corroborate their accuracy with carbon-dating and such!!duck decoys for instance found in a cave overlooking an extinct yet once burgeoning mountain lake in neveada ...dry for millenia!!yet perfect replicas of canvasback ducks from a avian flyway that no longer exists ..this dated at 16,000 years ago!!where heretofroe the date of all migration was presumed to have been not before 11,000 years ago!!and this written in stone by the paleonologists, anthropologists and the scientific community at large!!!
