I really think so. I see lots of people who work meanial jobs here that are dirt poor. They are uneducated and don't want to learn anything. They all just want to party and have fun. It s fun fun fun 24/7. Most drink most waking hours. And each day they do the same ole thing and drink again. Some even at work.

I used to own a liquor store in Southern CA. My main customers were mostly men who work for Boeing and Lockheed. They were the ones building our jumbo jets that we fly in. Even the safety inspector drinked at work. They took a bottle of whiskey in their pockets everyday. They are putting the nuts and bolts on our planes and they are drunk and happy. It is a living miracle more planes don't crash.
We got tired of feeding their need and sold that business. We were trying to get people to stop killing themselves (smoking and drinking) and it was not working.
Yes, many are dumb.

As a whole...no, I don't think we are getting dumber. I do, however believe that the seperation between the very intelligent and not so smart is a widening gap that is caused by certain socialogical ideas, morals and even fiscal differences. We have found ourselves in a world that is expanding faster than ever before imagined and there are places within our society that are unable or unwilling to make the attempt to keep up with what is..excuse the phrase "out there".
I believe I have run across some fairly intelligent folks on here..so maybe your first statement may be a little scewed. Nice thought provoking question though.

Perhaps less educated would be a better way to put it.

I am in my 30's and work with mostly younger people. Many of them are incapable of spelling a whole sentence correctly and are unable to define words used in everyday speech by my generation. These are not unintelligent youngsters, they are very bright, actually. They just have not received an education even though they come from wealthy families for the most part. Oddly, they seem to have been trained to hold proper spelling, grammar, and vocabulary usage in disdain and appear to associate it with being "stuck up."

It seems schools are spending too much time telling our "national treasures" they can become astronauts and presidents and then neglecting to teach them how. By the way, now that they are adults, they seem pretty pissed off about not becoming astronauts, rock stars, or presidents.

human beings have stopped reading - an somewhat substantial and necessary gadget to wisdom and records. maximum folk as we talk do no longer spell wisely, can't pronounce words perfect, do no longer understand what enunciation skill and can't even write nicely. confident, we've become too reliant on modern-day technologies. our young ones can't learn except the suggestions is 'rapped' to them. they could watch television (trash television) somewhat of reading a solid informative magazine. in certainty, they do no longer understand the language no longer to indicate the concepts being handed on. There are some geniuses around yet, as you assert they are in huge companies as we talk. we've become a lazy human beings; we enable others think of for us and nevertheless think of we are loose; others layout each little thing from our autos to our food; they let us know how plenty sleep we require each nighttime and how ineffective and inefficient we are as human beings, as mothers and dads. it incredibly is not any longer that we've become dumber actually, moreso, that we've become lazy and stopped utilising our innate skills and talents to strengthen our very own lives.

DUMB AND DUMBER! Lol, I think even ruling out all that you mentioned, people seem pretty lame these days considering some of the choices they make...going into major debt, spending all their time on the internet viewing porn, cheating, etc. Add to that that there seems to be some lazyness in the mix too, well...not good.

Well, I read classic books, didn't understand what they were saying, so I talked to a friend of mine whom is a professer of English and he said we are dumber. No one writes that way anymore, and if they did no one would know what they are saying. I agree with you.

Quite possibly, yes. Some people are getting smarter while the majority, I believe, are stagnating or getting dumber.
