You ARE yourself, therefore, you can't NOT be yourself.

You are not being yourself until you have examined your opinions in regards to yourself and to the world.
One way to 'do this' (for it is no easy task) is to keep a private journal and write about what you believe. Then study what you have written, think about alternatives to it. Then compare both sides of the picture and decide for yourself which view is the correct one, for you. I will give you two examples. Some people are racially prejudiced. They have come to this 'conclusion' based upon A. What their parents or the world at large have instructed them. B. Isolated incidences. They have not used a 'deep thought' decision making process at all.
When one is able to 'correct' aberrations in sellf, than that person reaches an Epiphany of greater awareness.
So get to know yourself. This above all else...to thine own self be true.

to "not be yourself" could mean that you are acting in a way that you do not normally act. Don't do things that you normally do. Usually caused by an incident that's recently happened, your mind is elsewhere, you could be stressed, sick etc.
But to say it is not being yourself would be incorrect, regardless of the actions, they are probably just a smaller part of your personality or ways that do not surface often as the situation could be something you've not faced before, hence your reaction has not been witnessed before.
I'm rambling, good luck. lol.

You are "not yourself" if you do things you don't like in order to please someone else.
