My question is would it be OK to give her canned meats -like Canned Chicken Breast, Turkey Breast and Canned Corned Beef ??
This would only be sometimes and not everyday - just when we are in a rush & cant cook -
Her Dr told us to give her more meats & not just the babyfood ones cause they are not that good of a source in IRON - She needs more meats cause her IRON was low -
The Dr. said to give her canned Tuna - so I dont see why other canned meats would hurt - from time to time
When we cook her meat - we leave on an un-seasoned protion of meat for her & the Puree it in the blender - sometimes we dont have time to do this - so thats why I thought of the canned meats
Has anyone given their baby these or do you have any suggestions on foods rich in IRON but safe for a 9 month old that are fast & easy to prepare
Thanks

i guess they would be okay. My daughter is 11 months and she eats mostly babyfoods- she's fine. You could try baby cereal fortified with Iron.

If you can get her to eat tuna, good luck to you! My boys are 2 1/2 years and 15 months old now, and neither of them will touch it. They get within 5 feet of it, get a whiff, and back off. lol

I think canned meats should be fine! That's pretty much what babyfood meats are--canned meats that have been pureed with enough water to make them smooth. As long as she has enough teeth to chew canned meats, they shouldn't be a problem. Just watch the sodium content in them.

Beef is an excellent source of iron. Does she have enough teeth to chew bits of a roast that's very tender? If not, you can always puree it, like you said. Or how about a baked chicken? Dark meat is better for kids--it's more moist and contains more iron. If you baked a chicken then pulled the meat off the legs and thighs, she'd probably go wild! Just be careful of the amount of salt and butter you put on it. I def. wouldn't give her the skin though--too fatty and too much of a choking hazard.

Canned foods are okay, as people have said, but be careful of sodium. When you have some extra time, boil or bake a chicken breast and then put the meat through the food processor and freeze it. We blend chicken with a little water into a paste and then freeze it in ice-cube trays. When you need it, you can defrost a cube or two in the microwave and mix the bits of chicken in with a vegetable or whatever. Then you'll always have meat on hand and won't have to worry about it every day.

OOOHH! My goodness, there is waaaaaaaay too much sodium in most canned meat! What I would do, is on a weekend, grill up some chicken or fish, and mix bits in with her baby food. Better yet, you can actually make your own baby food from fresh veggies and meat. No matter how much in a hurry you are, and I can understand that, don't scrimp on what you feed the baby. I used to feed my kids ramen noodles because that's something they would eat until I looked at the package and saw that it had enough sodium for an adults daily allowance!!

Give her tuna but not any other canned prcessed meats they're full of preservatives and salt in the end she will get no nutritional value out of them. Try letting het gnaw in lamb cutlets yes they are expensive but the meat is tender so she can chew it easily. Also use a lean mince and make a spagetti sauce with diced up carrots zuccini etc. You can freeze leftovers too. Also for iron make sure she is getting plently of green vegies like broccoli and spinach. Give her a good varied and healty diet not processed crap.

It won't hurt her from time to time. Eggs are also a good source of protein. Is she drinking formula with iron? 18-24 ounces is the norm for a 9-12 month old.

its perfectly okay to give her other meats like turkey and the likes. you might want to stay away from corned beef, however, its not gonna harm her (if you give it in small portions). not saying the beef is bad-just saying that the chicken and turkey are better for her. and tuna is excellent.

just make sure you break it up or mash it up so she can eat it with out choking.

properly, it relies upon on the newborn extremely. I in simple terms began feeding my 9 month previous son crackers and he has a confusing time not gagging on them. My daughter did not initiate eating meat till after she became approximately 15 months previous. in case you prefer to initiate them till now and you prefer to feed her the beef which you're eating from the table, you are able to pop it right into a nutrition processor or purchase jarred meats. i in my view made my very own infant nutrition so i did not initiate my childrens on meat till they have been good a chewing. After she had maximum of her tooth. i began out with hen and fish stinks. confident I meant to call them fish stinks and you'd understand why once you alter that first diaper. = )

Well when i was little, my ma would cook these steaks or any kind of heavy meat, and the ma would have to chew it all up and would spit it out and feed it to me. It's kinda a good way. It's what everyone basically do now and days.

Canned meat should be fine. She'll enjoy it more than the baby food. We pureed the meat we ate all the time for my kids. Other good sources of iron for babies are: greens (you can puree spinich and brocolli) and strawberries... babies love them!
Good luck!
