actually most of the really bad airborn stuff has a very short halflife... the stuff that lasts longer is more of a threat to contaminate food sources ... and depleted uranium dust can be a problem if inhaled or ingested so anyone having to deal with areas or objects contaminated with depleted uranium should be properly informed and trained to deal with the hazzard.

Well if it didn't then the people working in the nuclear power industry back in the 50s/60s wouldn't have been put through such stringent cleaning procedures before going home at night. Radioactivity can cause cancer, even the medical profession don't like using it more than is absolutely necessary.

It depends on the material that caused the fallout!

Remember Chernobyl? Only those in the immediate area (the towns and cities surrounding the power plant suffered really badly). Although because of weather patterns it spread all over Europe, few suffered from radiation poisoning, although lots of livestock were slaughtered as a precaution.

Radioactive fall out, over North America would kill most animals, and unsheltered humans.

It is sick to think about it, and no one would win a nuclear war.

Depleted uranium kills! It still contains uranuim, and is a WMD by itself. The USAF needs to discontinue it's use ASAP.
