Why don't you just buy motion sensor switches for your lights, and let them decide when you've left the room?
And by the way...shame on you! I have replaced EVERY bulb in my house with the energy saving fluorescent equivalent. I am not consciously saving all that energy, just so you can squander it by leaving your lights blazing in an unoccupied room!

You do not use that much more energy when turning a light on but you use a considerable amount of energy leaving it turned on for 15 min. at a time. Multiply the 15 min. by the amount of times it is left on during a month and you will see a great waste of energy.

15 minutes is a little long. The greatest shock to a light is when it is turned on. It takes more energy to turn on a light than to leave it on for a bit.

different than for fluorescent lighting fixtures, it is going to easily approximately continuously be a saving shutting issues off (not on standby). a controversy would be made for computers in hibernation or standby the place it could take a shorter time to renew artwork than reload each and every thing. some equipment would take a time to heat as much as working temperature and consequently fee extra to maintain shutting down and restarting. An occasion is oil refineries the place it takes 3 days to precise close down all and yet another 3 days to get decrease back to prevalent use. this is going to be extra efficient and extra decrease priced to run yet at a min fee each and every of the time. little question human beings can furnish many extra examples of this style of element however the genuine answer is = universal shutting down often will shop potential.

Depends upon the type of light but generally, yes. Just leave them on if you are certain to return within 15 minutes. Otherwise, turn them off.

Yes it waste more energy by turning things on and off so much. You can leave your computer on but set it to hibernate after a certain amount of time cause that saves energy.
