from the extremist left wingers who've hijacked it?

I fully agree with the modern Democratic party being just as you describe it. Starting probably around the late 60's, you could already see this happening. JFK and Eisenhower understood the threat of terrorism. I don't think that the Republicans are nearly as extreme as many think, thanks to the liberal controlled media. I think both parties have problems, but it's apparent that the Democrats have completely lost touch with reality. The party used to mean something good. I'd love to see the party find their way again, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

contrary to what you might've heard on FOX news, "extreme left wingers" have not hijacked the Dems, and extreme right wingers have not hijacked the Reps.

I really think we've had some unfortunate times - the GWB administration is not really true to Rep politics, and so there has been this weird schitz thing going on. The Dems have controlled the government for so long up to that point that they have been scurrying around like chicks after the mother goose gets hit by a car.

But, I think that's all changing for both parties. Partly because of the pressures on our government now. The heat is really turned up, and I think you'll see some better politics now. They don't really have a choice. Americans are really tired of extremists [muslim or any OTHER kind], so everybody is going to start finding middle ground. If they don't they're going to be voted out of office.

We have to stop fighting with each other. There's real enemies out there.

What's a "True Democrat"? Most that I know are members of a trade union, unionized teachers, or civil servants (who are essentially members of a union). Most spouses vote the same as the breadwinner, and most union breadwinners vote the way the union leaders tell them to. Most unions support the Democratic Party, because it opposes big corporations, to curry favor with Labor and get their vote. This is gradually falling apart because the Labor movement has driven jobs overseas and unions are losing their voter headcount. This is a major problem for the Democrat Party, and they don't know what to do about it.

I certainly hope so. Real civil libertarians are shut out by the PC police. Real economic progress is put off to the side by far-left economists who fight for too many socialistic reforms. The PETA and extreme greenies have given REAL environmentalists a bad name. Pacifists are too common.

Where are the Center-Left folks out there? Anywhere? I am one and I hope they come back to the forefront. The Republican party has shifted to the extreme right, if the Dems had any sense, they'd be busy stealing the middle.

There is a third! Don't forget Bill Richardson. Hmmm a Lieberman/Richardson ticket with Zell Miller as Secretary of State. I'm thinking that would be OK for a while.

Understand that the Democrat party has no tolerance for anyone who has even the slightest ounce of decency. Look at what happened to Joe Liebermann. He wasn't quite rotten enough for them, so they kicked him out.

I really believe the party needs to be shut down by the authoirities, because it is antagonsitic to the welfare of the United States and is downright dangerous for our security and survival.

They seem very impotent right now. The only bump they're going to get will be from the poor showing of the republicans.

I only know of two "True Democrats" Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman. I don't see how two men can rescure JFKs Party from the Communists.
