someone could say that Reader's Digest can be used to broaden one's perspective by providing varying subjects which one might not be exposed to otherwise.

back in the day my HS TEACHER gave us the word list to study every week empowered my speach & language also another had us read it once a week learned alot increased my way of thinking still use those tools never forgot what that book did for me ENHANCED MY VOCAB MIND HUMOR & PERSONALITY

When I was growing up (1950's through mid 1970's) it was the only reading material in the house. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and read it cover to cover. I still enjoy it to this day.
