Hi, I'm looking for some advice on the different kinds of blue collar jobs available. So far, becoming a Paramedic or Police Officer are leading the way, but I have thought about jobs as an Electrician, Emergency Room Nurse, HVAC Mechanic, and Truck Driver. I'd like to find a job that constantly has something to do, as I become very restless when I have to sit around all day.

As far as pay is concerned, something around $35,000-$50,000 would be comfy for me, nothing higher. Any ideas, advice, suggestions?

Yes, in Japan - they have a very special blue-collar job, called "Surfer" in English.

All this person has to do is just look around the world, fly to place, see TV, browse the Net, chat to people, talk on phone, read magazines, drive new cars, etc

But, the responsibility is that the person has to give the company an idea of the year, where company must make over 50% return in the first year.

Easy isnt it???

You are all over the job spectrum.... What is your interest? There really aren't such thing as "FUN" job that meets everyone's defintion of "fun."

Emergency room nurse isn't a blue collar job. That is a highly skilled and specialized job. While it is not a desk job, I wouldn't call it blue collar.

If you can't sit still, then truck driving isn't for you.

It is NOT easy to make 35K to 50K a year, especially as a starting out salary. Initially, especially as a "blue collar" person, you'd be making around 20K or less. Then, it's all up to you to grow in the field to make more.

One thing to think about is, if you have a hobby and you get a job in your field too close to your hobby, you'd basically lose your hobby. Think about this before you select an occupation.

I think you may find that a paramedic or police officer does a lot of waiting around. An ER nurse will definitely keep you busy most of the time. Although you might make too much money, given the demand for the profession :)

Why do you want to remain in the highest taxed income quadrant?? (as an employee.)

Do you enjoy working half the year for the gov't.

Don't understand this? That's OK. It's something we aren't taught in school.

Read Best Seller: 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad' by Robert Kiyosaki and you'll be glad you did.

Example: what % of the $35000 do you actually get to keep for yourself?

Keep Smiling!

If you consider police officer or EMT as fun jobs, wait until you see your first severed head or shotgun-blast suicide. Great fun and lots of laughs!
