I've experienced the same thing, only at a much younger age. In the end it didn't work, I think because as an older woman heading into retirement, I had a different perspective on life to my younger partner.

That problem wouldn't be so relevant at your age. However for me, the age difference wasn't obvious on the outside, because these days people between 35 and 50 all look very similar in age. Fifty y.o women are no longer old and wrinkly!

However once you get past 60, old age does start to set in. So I'd suspect that your age difference would be more obvious to others, and therefore you would be more likely to encounter prejudice.

Also, it's inevitable that illness comes with age, so you have to be prepared for the fact that you will end up nursing your aged wife and that she will probably die long before you. If you love her then you will probably be willing to do that.

My husband and I have a 20-year age difference between each other, and we absolutely adore our marriage. Granted, one of us is "young" for their age, while the other is "mature" for their age - so we have a nice common ground in the middle. :)

I had a hard time getting over the age difference at first - but then I realized that I would rather have fewer really GREAT years with someone that I consider my "soul mate", than to risk a lifetime of marriage where I've "settled".

First, why do you want to marry a 70 year old woman?
How long have you know this lady?
How is her health?
Are you in good health?
Are you and her sexually active?
Do you love each other?
Are you two compatible?
If you two are happy, compatible, healthy, active together, and love each other then go for it, if that melts your butter.
Good Luck to both of you.

My grandmother was 46 when she married my grandfather. He was in his 20's. Had they not married, I wouldn't be here. If you truly love each other, go ahead. Love really has no age limits.
