I assume your getting fuel...So, best to check the magnetic pickup inside the distributor. Sometimes that little magnet under the stator breaks. Acts like the vehicle can't start and such. If thats good, then maybe find a part called the CCRM, or Constant control relay module. I know most cars have them...Not sure about the trucks. Those would be the 2 i'd check next. Good luck.

I personally think you need to start over. Step 1...shoot starting fluid into the intake while someone cranks it over. If it fires up and dies...then troubleshoot the fuel system (most likely the enertia switch behind the driver's seat). If it does not fire up then you will need to check the coil for pulses coming in. If they are not present then it's most likely the pass key, crank sensor or cam sensor any one will kill it. Step 2...try your spare key. If that won't fix it then it's probably a sensor. Best of luck. Don't give up...it's probably an easy problem.

I had the same problem on my 4.9 F150. The problem was a faulty pickup in the distributor. To check it you have to pull the cap off and look in the base. There will be a magnetic pickup inside. Stick a pick or something inside and if it flakes away it probably bad. To replace it you need to pull the whole distributor apart. Good luck!
