Depending on how badly it's torn, maybe surgery.

Otherwise wrapping to stabilize the foot. Ice and elevation to bring down swelling, or heat to take out the ache.

Pain medications with an anti-inflammatory.

Staying off the foot as much as possible, and using a cane/crutches to take some of the weight when you have to get about.

Initially, RICE
Rest - relative rest, don't excessively walk, don't run, jog, jump, play sports, etc to allow the ligament to heal

Ice - put a ice bag or cold pack on the foot for 15 minutes at a time to help control inflammation and swelling

Compression - wrap the foot with a ace bandage to apply pressure to help control swelling

Elevation - elevate the foot above your heart level while resting to control swelling

Anti - Inflammatory Medication
If you have used Ibuprofen or Naproxen before, try taking it to help decrease pain, inflammation, and swelling

Once the initial inflammatory phase has passed, you may increase your activity level, increase range of motion with stretching, and regain strength of the leg and intrinsic foot muscles with exercise.

Talk to your doctor about seeing a physical therapist to help your foot heal faster without damaging it further.

Unfortunately, depending on how damaged the ligament is, there is always the possibility of surgery to repair it, but that is rare.

Best treatment for a torn foot ligament, is SURGERY. talk to your doctor about getting the ligament fixed after your other operation or perhaps at the same time, since you will be healing afterwards anyway. No pain no gain!
