my son is having a hard time in school making friends how do i help him , make friends?

he is five and in kendergarden and has adhd, but he is super smart, but some what socially challenged

as a kindergarten teacher I often see this. It is important that as a parent you set up play dates with other children in the class (even if on the play date they play a bit on their own). It may take him a little longer to adapt to sharing and playing with other children but support and rold playing is a great technique. also make sure the teacher is aware of your concern...much to your surprise this problem could be fixed quickly in the classroom making it easier at home. if other children do not enjoy playing with him, it most likely has to do with them not understanding the adhd and getting frustrated. kids are genuine and surprsingly they will eventually adapt to any environment.

Do not help him make friends. He will come into his own. Instead, find out what he likes doing by himself, and encourage it. Hopefully he likes something intellectually stimulating, which will serve him very well in the future.

To him, like with many other people, friends are not just made casually because he likes their clothes or their name. He will have friends, but they will be very good friends. But he will choose them on his own.

Don't worry about it. He's too young for you to be worried about his social skills. Wait until the first grade, where he'll be hanging around the same kids for the next 6 or so years.
