No they are not the same. A garage or yard sale is one person selling some things they don't need in their life anymore. It is a one or two day event (every year or couple of years) and once the end of the day has come the stuff goes to a good will or st. vincent de paul society for donation. A flea market has the same vendors every weekend and runs every weekend no matter what. These people buy stuff from estates, or what ever they pick up from garbage and have repaired, refinished, etc and then sell at flea market in hopes of making extra money. They pay for the right to have a "stall" where they sell the stuff they have.

A flea market is different from a garage or yard sale. People who have garage or yard sales are getting rid of used stuff. At a flea market you can find used stuff, but there are also vendors there who sell new items. We had one this past weekend in my city and there were new and used items. That is the difference. Hope it answered your question.

I used to go with my Grandpa to flea markets and
I don't think they're the same as garage sales or
yard sales. I thought garage sales and yard sales
were mainly for the selling of used household items,
but at the flea markets I've been to, there's mainly
been new things to sell.

Flea Market ,you can find pretty much everything, from vintage
stuff to Antiques, to household items, crafts and more.
Garage Sales & Yard Sales are almost the same, find things
people want to get rid of, for less money.

I bought a vintage woven metal W/ lucite handle purse for $4, I later saw an almost identical (rectangle instead of oblong the only differance) purse in a vintage clothing store for $50. Than there is the wooden treasure box purse. It literally looks like a treasure box with a handle......the 90 cent price is still written on the bottom. I have never seen another one like it, and always get compliments when I take it out. Or the 1970's disco sandels that have the same pair in the Shoes book. A vintage velvet coat with sheerling lining, and satin lining in the sleeves, crystal buttons. Real velvet, not the stuff you see today, and real sheerling. This was $6...but I got it on a 50% off day. A Vintage black silk brocade short jacket. 3/4 lgth sleeves (to be worn with gloves I am sure) Wore this many a semi formal event. Too many good buys to narrow it down to one.
