I'll tell you what you could do. I am a high school coach. First look in to B.F.S. bigger faster stronger. They can help you train in the weight room. Every high school runs this program. Then walk 1 mile every other day( for asthma) Build up your stamina. also when you start playing, VERY IMPORTANT< give your pump to the trainer. walk for 2 months then jog a little. Don't run cause you will run enough in practice. Get your heart going by jogging. Get someone who is on the team to help you with the game. If you want to be a running back get with a qb and hae him hand off the ball to you. If you want to play line meet a line man at the slead and POP it don't drive it just POP want to be a linebacker. get witha linebacker and run drills with him. Then once you workout with these guys it will create buzz with the team letting them know you are serious, then you tell the coach you want to play. then he will set you up. By no time soon you will be starting.
Good luck

Well if you had stated your height , weight , and athletic ability in your question I would be able to help you more. However for an all around type answer here goes: Make sure you love the game. Playing football is HARD work and you can be hurt easily if not prepared. I great love of the game can make up for any short comings you may have due to height/weight/athletic abilities. Take the next 9 months and run your butt off. Make sure your arobic health is top notch because that will keep you strong the whole game and practices. Next start lifting weights. Make sure you concentrate on your legs with squats, your back with dead lifts, and you upper body strenght with pull ups and bench press. Lastly but just as important...play catch alot. Throwing and catching the ball will get your hands and mind in tune with it. If your planning on playing a skill position then it will help if you do some speed training like sprinting and quickness drills like tire steps.

Talk to the h.s. varsity coach and tell him exactly what you just told us. He'll tell you better than we can what you'll have to do now to make his team next year. Also, approaching him and asking will show effort and initiative on your part.

And the only way you can prepare to be the best on any team is to work. And then work harder. Then, when it feels like you've reached your limit...... keep working. The guys that are the "best" are the ones that put the most effort in, not necessarily the ones with the most talent or training.

Good luck!

Train your *** off. But don't overdo it. Run, lift weights, do stretches . . . make sure you are limber. Just get in as good a shape as possible, and go out there and kick some ***.
