Why is depression only recognized and treated mostly if the person is suicidal or a threat to others physically? I can tell you that I have been EXTREMELY depressed and in pain. But still in my right mind enough to not harm myself or others. What about the individual? What about the pain they are in? Why is that not important unless they are going to do something harmful to their self or others? People should be treated for depression for the fact that they are depressed. Not just because they may be a danger.

I don't agree with you about depression only being treated if the person is suicidal. You need to get the right help is all. If you are extremely depressed, you need to seek out the right person to help you.

I suggest you also look into a natural depression and pain reliever I saw at the health food store that is said to work wonders, phenocane.

You may want to find another counselor if they are not helping you. Just remember that depression can come by way of situations, hormones, imbalances in chemicals of the brain, heredity and weather. Also, there is a lot of evidence that your eating habits make a diffence too. Sugar and alcohol are depressants. Stay away from them.

I wish you good luck in finding help, please don't give up. Maybe if you have someone assist you in finding a good counselor, that would make things easier on you. Take care.
