2x^2 + 7x + 3

when i am not certain how to factor it, i use

x = (-b ± sqrt(b^2 - 4ac))/(2a)

x = (-7 ± sqrt(7^2 - 4(2)(3)))/(2(2))
x = (-7 ± sqrt(49 - 24))/4
x = (-7 ± sqrt(25))/4
x = (-7 ± 5)/4
x = (-12/4) or (-2/4)
x = -3 or (-1/2)

ANS : (x + 3)(2x + 1)

You need to find terms (Ax+B)(Cx+D) so that AC=2, BC+AD=7, and DB=3. Normally, you just want to check with integers, because that's often all that you need.
