naw, you wouldnt be able to get to any instant message program in your control panel. Open up your yahoo messenger and go to options, in the general options there is a little box next to a sentence along the lines of "open yahoo instant messager on start up" un-check it, click on "ok" and SHUT DOWN dont restart, then twenty secconds after your processer fan stops spinning(or any sound ends from your tower) boot it back up,

hope this helped

If you do not want it to startup when you startup your computer, then just go into the preferences in Yahoo Messenger and turn off the option to start it when you start your computer. Then, hit apply and save the settings.

inside yahoo messenger should be a page for options or customization.....should be a click box in this area to start messenger on windows start up or not. click it off and messenger won't come on. don't see why this would effect email if done this way.

You can also take it out of memory....go to Start...then Run...then type in MSCONFIG...click StartUp, then deselect anything Yahoo...will keep it from automatically loading it into memory, too...helpful, indeed
