I am TERRIFIED of spiders, I can't even kill them. If there is a spider in my house I will leave. How can I repel them so they don't come in anymore? I don't care if it hurts them or not, I just want them gone. All the bug sprays say they don't kill spiders on contact, it takes a while for them to die. I have tried pretty much all of them. Someone PLEASE help me...

Frenchy has the right idea although I wouldn't use ortho max because it doesn't last as long (a good thing in most cases). I would do a 2 foot wide perimeter treatment around the house with deltamethrin (Delta Eight by Bonide) or resmethryn if you can't find delta. This lasts about 8 weeks and the purpose is to kill the spiders before they get into the house.

As for bug bombs in the house--if you had 200 spiders I might consider it but you can't set off a bug bomb every time you see a spider. Since you can't get close enough to kill them, I'd as a family member, significant other or neighbor to come in and waste them or it. Most people will understand and help you out.

I know, I'm not a fan either, but honestly there isn't anything you can do. Houses are imperfect places. If you bug-bomb beneath the house, you can actually force them INTO the house. I used to be terrified of them too, but I learned over time to actually handle daddy-long-legs, which I know don't bite... I know this seems like a dumb response, but I wonder where your fear of them comes from? Maybe explore that?

You could try those sticky glue traps for mice, and hang them up in corners to catch the spiders. I have heard of some type of vegetable called a hedgehog ball. I have seen them in the grocery store. They look like a bumpy rippled green ball,a nd are supposed to work well to repel all sorts of insects by just placing them in rooms. I haven't personally tried them but have heard they do work.

You know phobias don't really exist? There is no logical explanation why you should be this terrified of something so insubstancial. Phobias develop as a method of dealing with all the fears and worries of your life. You gather up all the little fears you develop and project them onto a single object or ideal. Then, when you reject that object, you are actually rejecting your fears. The only probly with this psychology is you essential take a bunch of harmless fears and pack them into one that can inhibit and take control of your life. Why is it that the rest of us can live with spiders, and you cannot? How can you wish death or exile on something for your own unjustified reasons? Maybe you should work on resolving your own issues, instead of asking for a means of renforcing it?
