I find the mold in the downstairs of my two-bedroom townhouse. I see in on the inside of the toilet, sometimes in my sink (if dishes sit for a couple of days), in my dishwasher, in my trash, and most recently, in my cat's food. It was almost the size of a golfball and had popped up while I was out of town for the weekend. I noticed it around this time last year, as well. I had asked my landlord, who referred me to the property manager. He gave me some stuff to spray on around the house and on fabrics. The problem is, I don't feel confortable spraying it on my dishes and obviously, can't spray my cat's food bowl. He said he doesn't know anything else to do. Is there anyone I can call (public health, etc.), ANYONE? I know it is very dangerous in some forms and don't want it to affect my or my cat's health. PLEASE HELP!!

Call your town or county building inspector ask for a survey. Your landlord may have a major problem on his hands.

make a diluted solution of bleach water, test on inconspicous area. This should help kill the mold. PLEASE get a health inspector or building inspector to check and make note of it. If it's toxic, it needs to come out. All kinds of mold can cause health problems though.

*NOTE*
We had mold in our town house. It gave my new born asthma. We didn't even know we had it until we had a leak, and they had to cut out the ceiling. Black mold just started falling out. There is no law that states a complex has to fix it. ( i called EPA to confirm this) Write your landlord a letter asking it to be fixed. If they won't, it is up to you if you stay. Document everything.

Our landlord wouldn't fix it. We had to break lease and it killed us because no one wanted to let us move in after that. So document everything, get it inspected, and best wishes.

No one should have to live in mold.
