If it had been on for hours, it could have been a strain on the hardware and shut down. It happens alot, that is what Backups are for.
If it is a virus, or malware, it needed to reboot to load the garbage in, after re-boot the malware will load and your PC will be in the control of others,,,no problem,,re-format the system, take that backup that I hope you made evry 2 days, and put all your computer systems and settings back like magic.
If you do not have a current backup, now you know, Allways make a backup, incremental backups are data savers over and above anything else. No software can run on a system that cant bootstrap, hence the Drive Image backup.

Happens often with mine two. Laptops after a couple years of use (less for some, more for others) often tend to overheat easily. The computer automatically shuts down after it reaches a certian temperature to protect itself from damage or fire. Hope it helps.

There are so many things it could be, but i think it might be an overheating issue, or it could be a fried motherboard, or it could be a dead power supply. I would suggest taking it to where you bought it or call Acer. I believe the travel mate is a laptop so it would be hard to fix could be hard to fix your self.

you want a minimum of a 500w means supply for todays computer demands. And one with the desirable Pin Out. it rather is a ask your self you havent toasted your motherboard or means supply. Usualy the connector melts the place the main means supply plug is going whilst there's a loss of amper demands. and carry the temperature settings somewhat in the computer wellbeing or something comparable in the BIOS settings. d:o) Avatarxz
