You know how stars always say that monogamy is not in our nature and blah blah blah... Well, I believe that it is... We're not like animals and it's not impossible to stay monogamous. It's just all in the person.. But I think more people should stay monogamous (while in a relationship.. not saying to marry someone or anything) but cheating is just retarded.. If you don't want to stay with just one girl or guy why be in a relationship. You'll only wind up hurting someone or getting hurt by someone..

So what do you guys think?

Anyone who says it's not our nature is a nutcase! Humans, like many other animals, pair up. There has been a few who would try to convince us that it is "normal" to behave like a wild animal in heat and sleep with anyone available. Nope. It is all a matter of morals really. If someone has no morals, they'll adopt the idea that monogamy is not real. However, someone who has morals, knows that monogamy is necessary for a good solid relationship for both parties.

Look at our society today, we are a mess, going down the toilet fast. Why? Well look at how people are living their lives; many children out of wedlock, people living together many, many times, no respect for one another. Where has that gotten them anyway? Nowhere fast.

People who have good monogamous relationships are the happiest. Those who try to fool themselves and others that many relationships with no commitment is great are some of the saddest people around.

I believe monogamy is a social construct.

I believe humans have an unlimited capacity to love.

If all parties are in agreement and say 3 people all are in love with each other, why not? If the 2 men are as in love with each other as the woman is with each of them, then go for it. Or if the two women are as in love with each other as the man is with each of them. However, I don't think it works well without bisexuality unless there's a third gender out there somewhere.

If you mean a person in a couple cheating - that's not good. However, it may be more natural than monogamy. Monogamy hasn't been on the human scene all that long in terms of human history. Monogamy is only practical in a relatively safe world where nearly as many males as females reach adulthood. You only need to go back a few hundred years, at most a thousand to reach a point where polygamy was more "normal" than monogamy.

We are animals.

I think monogamy works best for most people, and I hate to say it because it may sound like I hate men and I don't, but men are a bit more like animals and that sex drive is very powerful. They are made to be baby-making machines and its their favorite thing to do (without the baby). Some men have a very hard time staying monogamous, and yes, people get hurt.

It does not matter what the " stars " are saying and what I think is irrelevant. The fact of the matter, shown by innumerable genetic analysis, is that our species is generally monogamous; slightly polygamous. I agree, cheating is " retarded ", but, baby girl, people do retarded things all the time and hurt someone, weather in a relationship or not. Life is not fair, all the time, so you need to come to accept that.

Well, monogomy really depends on the person doesn't it. I can't say that it's something I would go against unless I had discussed it with the person I was in a relationship with. Or, if it was a complete accident. The end result is what truly matters. So, if at the end of the day I whole heartedly care for someone then chances are I'm going to stay true to them, but you never know

Monogamy is something that I strive for. As for other people, they have a choice whether to follow it or not. It would not hurt anyone or get hurt by someone if everyone consents to not be monogamous.

I agree with you!

You mentioned the Hollywood types saying monogamy is not in our nature. The reason they think so is that many of them are so shallow they are only looking for a temporary mate to help further their career.

Ok..well...I really think Monogomy is really kinda cool cause it makes really nice desks and stuff and I have some on the edges of my walls which is kinda cool cause everyone says it's cool.but I don't think animals are really into monogomy..I mean like they have all the trees around them anyway..why would they want just one kind...what do the stars know...they are retarded also!! And cheating....NOT COOL..thats like using Pine or Oak or Elm wood....now that really is bad for nature!!

There are good and bad of both genders.
I have been married 25 years and have not strayed.
I know some guys that have been married 25 minutes and are trying... pick the right mate.

There's alot of guys who get off on their partner "cheating".

Therefore, I think that monogamy is something to be decided between couples.

I do think that it's wrong to lie, and pretend to be seeing only one person when you're really going out with others. That type of betrayal and dishonesty is just wrong. You should only be nonmonogamous if your partner knows and is getting off on it.
