A friend of mine has recently "redefined" our relationship, saying I wasn't giving the friendship enough value or respect (which was untrue--she accused me of these things w/o even asking me) ...so now she wants us to just be "casual" friends...ok, so we both have a mutual friend who I'm pretty close to. Well now that the first friend and I are not close anymore, all of a sudden she's telling the mutual friend "how thankful she is for their friendship" and sending her all these nice emails and stuff...and giving me the cold shoulder, not even answering my email. Now I feel that she's just being catty with our mutual friend, being so "appreciative" of that friendship...as if to say MY friendship was not a blessing to her or whatever. But I want to try to keep pursuing at least a casual friendship with her because I don't hate her. I just wasn't expecting a total rebuff. My question now is, should I keep trying to pursue this friendship or should I just let it go and stop trying??

I should add that this is not a friendship involving a couple of teenagers...I'm 28 and the friend is 45. I'm trying to be mature about this but it still is hurtful, the way she's accused me of things that were untrue and then actively ignoring me, even after saying she wanted to continue at least a casual friendship.

Don't try to chase after the friendship.

You don't got time to deal with people who wanna play with your feelings. Move on and meet other people who treat you better and value your friendship with them.

Try just backing off for a little while. Maybe she's just going through something right now. If after you've given her some time, she's still acting wierd, she wasn't that good a friend to begin with.

Women (people in general) who want to be like that are not worth it. No body needs crap like that in their life. If they were true friends they wouldn't treat people like that.
