The torture of Americans in Vietnam, Korea, and WW2 was sick.
So why do some Republicans support torture?

they support torture because they are sadists.
when you hit a kid and call it love, you screw them up forever.
to andy g. i'm sorry for your relative's experience. when my father in law got back from vietnam, he tried for a long time to pretend that it was liberals who were the cause of his problem. fortunately, he spent a few years in support groups with other vets, run by the vet center, and he realized it was his experiences in vietnam that hurt him, not the liberals who were trying to bring him home. he's haunted by the images of blown up children, not images of liberals asking lbj how many kids he killed that day. the truth hurts, but it will set you free.

and of course we let them do it because we know they would never use these tactics on a true American. Letting the administration decide who is an "enemy combatant" and who is not, with no kind of judicial review, and then giving those people a special trial with certain rights taken away, is not due process. however bush put a lot of judges in the court system who think that the judicial system has no place in justice, so I guess there's not much we can do except hope our names don't show up on the enemies list.
the only people who could support this are the ones who have complete blind faith in the Bush administration. Well if a Democrat wins the presidency in the future, good luck getting rid of these provisions. Just try not to blow up any abortion clinics or you could end up in Syria.

Pretty much.
They are sadists. They just use crap like they're "potential terrorists" as a reason to justify it. Yeah, because "potential terrorists" are worse than insane serial killers. After 9/11, the US public buys anything the Bush administration throws at them. It's sad really.

Yes I have a family member that was tortured but what he remembers most is how he was treated by a certain party when he returned! He has gotten over the physical pain but the mental anguish caused by a certain party (left leaning) he said he would never get over. And your last statement has been proven by the liberals already!
