My fan's been really loud the past year and my computer sometimes shuts down without warning. The base of the computer also gets extremely hot sometimes and it's worrying!

How much will it cost to replace my fan? I'm pretty tight with money at the moment.

Thanks

Fans are pretty cheap (if it is standard-usually about $10) and it is a pretty simple job unless it is a laptop or something weird and then you have to get it from the manufacturer. Take the one with you to the store and find a match.

It shutting off is because the processor is overheating. If you keep doing that you will fry it. It is a lot cheaper to do it now.

Replacing some laptop fans can be quite costly. Before spending the money, clean all the dust bunnies out of the input and output vents with compressed air and see if it works better.

Try using "canned air" to blow the dust out of the fan first. Blow out all of the air vents on the laptop.Laptops get a lot of dust in them, blow them out about once a week.
