I find the resilience of our brains amazing. There's so much redundancy a brain can be badly damaged and the individual can still live on.

Things I find both amazing and disturbing about our brains:
Our brains are the seat of our consciousness, of WHO WE ARE. If our brain is damaged or tweaked with chemicals or harmed by disease - WHO WE ARE CHANGES.
Our brains are not only the site of rational thought but of emotion. Just a pinch of damage to my frontal lobes and I will no longer love my husband or cry at a symphony though I'll be able to balance my check book and fill out my tax forms.
