You should replace it immediately as there is the possibility the heat could damage the hood. You may also want to go through the entire car and make sure the mice didn't chew through anything else. Especially the wiring. They usually love that. Then store the car somewhere where the mice cannot get at it.

If that is the only thing the mice & rats ate? replace under hood liner cheep! Then and remove all food from the garage feed cats and dogs out on the patio. Moth balls in nylon stocking tied under the hood helps. You really have to stop the varmits from eating your pride and joy.

Hey it sounds like a great car! and yes if you don't either patch it or replace it it can do some damage to your engine due to overheating. Replacing that part on this car would be pretty pricey, I suggest trying to patch it to at least keep the heat out...but if you want the look and the quality you should just bite the bullet and start looking for a replacement...
...and set up some mouse traps that would make me soooooo mad

How did the rats get in there? Did you flow away the hood open in any respect? i might wager the only thank you to end this may be to maintain your hood closed and save the vehicle the place there are not huge quantities of rats… or perhaps set traps around the vehicle.

Keep a close eye on things. If the mice did that, you can bet they chewed up wires too. If they chewed up wires, there are some bare ones. If they touch where they shouldn't, you will have a fire.
I'd have it looked at at the Chevy dealer just to make sure.

351 is a ford motor. and it is c.i. not cc's for your vette. it wont melt the hood, but might bake the paint wich would cause it to flake and peel.
