On a piano riff what does Am, Em, and Dm stand for what am i supposed to play im learning a song and i dont know what to play???

They're all minor chords - that's what the lowercase "m" means. All you have to do is play an Am chord is play an A chord, but lower the third by a half step. So it would be A, C, and E instead of A, C#, and E.

Am = A, C, E
Em = E, G, B
Dm = D, F, A

These chords are the following notes played at the same time-
Am is A minor - A, C, E
Em is E minor - E,G,B
Dm is D minor - D,F,A

lower case m next to notes denotes minor key e.g.

Am = A minor Em = E minor Dm = D minor

It means you're supposed to a play an A minor, E minor, an D minor chord or any of the keys that are included in that chord.
