There is a very useful invention which I can't recall the name of, available in medical/surgical supply stores-- it's an alarm that goes off when the kid starts to wet. It's battery-operated, a plastic wire goes from the snap in the underwear, up the sleeve, and to the wrist, where there is a little velcro bracelet that has this alarm that rings.
Most kids are dreaming that they are getting up and going to the bathroom when they wet the bed. This wakes them up when they start to wet. It breaks the habit and really works.
If they wet in the middle of the night, make sure they get up and let you know. Change the sheets (put a towel on the wet spot), so they can finish out the night in a dry bed.
They get used to the comfy bed, and that motivates them to want to get up and go to the bathroom.
Also... NO drinking after 7 PM... and no caffeine after NOON. That makes a big difference.

Kegel exercises are the only thing that helped me quit wetting the bed. Have your kid try it. No amount of punishment, discipline, chores, or anything helped me quit wetting the bed as a child. I just could not control it and was not aware it was happening.
The way my parents taught me to do the kegel exercises was to tell me to try to stop the flow of urine whenever I used the bathroom. Pee - hold it for a few seconds - pee again - hold it, etc. It works even though it is weird.
