I sure do! As a matter of fact, let's let democracy happen right away.
Let's let their civilians vote on whether or not they want us there. THAT is democracy.

And after they vote us out, we can let them have their civil war. We can supervise from afar, and let the UN help in the matter.

Don't worry about possible terrorist attacks as a result. Our bases being there now doesn't stop them much more than it would if it wasn't there. All the bases are along oil-fields anyway. But that's besides the point.

We would be able to thwart any attack, which is highly inprobable to occur even if we leave, as long as the government does not once again show extreme imcompetence.

We will be fine.

Agree or disagree?

hls, you are mistaken. We live in a representative form of govt. It is called an INDIRECT DEMOCRACY. it is a republic too, of course.

I wish we could give it to them giftwrapped.

I think the best thing for us to do would be to offer our help, rather than impose it on them... let their government architect their own strategy against the insurgency and offer our help if they ask for it. I think that's the best strategy to counter their viewing us as an occupying force with the immoral act of screwing everything up and leaving without helping to fix it.

I basically dont care whether they select democracy or not.
There are other forms of government which they may feel more comfortable with, and which may respond better to the problems this nation.

Heck, democracy doesnt even work for us so well anymore.
You have NO say in anything. Our elected officials, who are supposed to vote for the ultimate wellbeing of our nation, are
a bunch of people who will sell themselves for a vote.

And since we do not vote directly to mandate the path of our government, please realize that we are NOT, and have NEVER
been a democracy.

This is a republican (Not Republican) form of government where we vote for a slate of representatives, none of whom is bound to
support our wants and desires.

Is it really any of our business how a country is governed? I mean, I know that it is in OUR best interest, but it really is none of our business. So in reality, I don't think it is our business to be in Iraq telling them how to do anything. We have enough to worry about here at home.
