well, they both have 160/y so you can solve for one of them to that and use substitution. I used the first equation:
96/x + 160/y = 9 => 160/y = 9 - 96/x. Therefore,

144/x + (9-96/x) = 11 => (144-96)x + 9 = 11 => 48/x + 9 = 11 => 48/x = 2 => 48 = 2x => x = 24.

Than, I substituted that value of 24 into the first equation:

(96/24) + 160/y = 9 => 4 + 160/y = 9 => 160/y = 5 => 160 = 5y => y = 32

Thus, x = 24 and y = 32.
